What is secret santa and how do I run it in Melchor?
It's the swap where each person gives a gift to one other person in secret. In Melchor you gather the group and everyone makes their own list, so nobody gives blind or buys the same thing. The automatic name draw? It's coming very soon.
Do I need to sign up to make a list?
To start your list, no: you make it without giving an email. You only sign up if you want to collaborate, meaning join a friend's group or reserve a gift for them.
Do my friends need the app to reserve a gift for me?
Yes. They download Melchor free and sign up in a moment. That way reservations stay secret and nobody buys you the same thing twice.
So how do you make money?
With optional affiliate links. When you add a gift, its link can become an affiliate one: if someone buys it, the store leaves us a small commission and you pay the same. No ads, no selling data.
Where is my data stored?
In the European Union, under GDPR. It doesn't leave the EU and we don't share it with ad networks. We don't have any.
Do you use my lists to train AI?
No. Nothing you create is used to train models or target ads. Only to make the app work.
How do you avoid duplicate gifts?
When someone reserves a wish, you don't see it, but the rest of the group does. The surprise stays; the duplicates don't.
